This is What the Democratic Primary Has Come Down To

South Carolina Primary Hillary Clinton Barack Obama

I saw this article on CNN last week, and it blew me away. It boils down the Democratic primary in South Carolina into a battle between race and gender, trying to figure out which will be the stronger draw, and especially wondering which direction black women in particular will vote. From the article:

Recent polls show black women are expected to make up more than a third of all Democratic voters in South Carolina’s primary in five days.

For these women, a unique, and most unexpected dilemma, presents itself: Should they vote their race, or should they vote their gender?

Hey, here’s a thought: how about they vote on the quality of the candidates? Perhaps the voters could learn where the candidates stand on the issues, and then choose the person they think would do the best job at running the country.

I’m not necessarily coming down on the voters here – I’d like to think that the good people of South Carolina will exercise at least a modicum of good judgment when making their selection. I am, however, calling out CNN for publishing a fantastically flawed article.

Stay hot, CNN.

Here’s the comic.
